Charming templates for email, LinkedIn and Facebook that help you actually get hired (without sounding like a robot)

Tired of Staring at a Blank Google Doc?

Writing job applications is weird.

You’re meant to sound professional but not stiff, confident but not arrogant, enthusiastic but not try-hard.

And when you try to tick all those boxes?

You end up with something like this:

“Dear Hiring Manager, I’m writing to express my interest in the role of [something forgettable]…”

No wonder the abyss is starting to look friendly.

Let’s fix that.

There’s a Better Way

What if:

  • You had emails & messages actually stand out and get read
  • You could send them out without procrastinating for four hours first?
  • People actually replied to your applications?

Enter: The Charming Job Application Template Pack.

This pack gives you everything you need to land more interviews, without selling your soul to ChatGPT.

This is for you if…

  • You want your personality to come through, but you don’t want to overshare or overthink it
  • You’re job hunting, freelancing, or doing both at once
  • You’ve got skills but freeze every time you open a blank doc
  • You want to be taken seriously without sounding like you copied ChatGPT verbatim
  • You’re tired of writing the same pitch 400 times from scratch

Does my stuff work? Of course it does!

I managed to get a meeting about a job that wasn’t even being offered

Using one of Jon’s bloody amazing templates, I managed to get a meeting about a job that wasn’t even being offered.

I saw an advert for a part time admin job in a photography studio. Last night using Jon’s template, I emailed the company asking if they’d be willing to increase the hours offered for someone who is experienced in admin AND photography.

Turns out I was not only being cheeky, but I was also way past the deadline. Nonetheless, I have a meeting with them this afternoon.

Jon is a god, buy his stuff.

Their reaction astounded me

Couple of days ago, I was procrastinating by checking out a job board for location-independent gigs when the words “copywriter wanted” caught my attention.

The gig turned out to be for an agency handling very formal matters. The gig description was the typical description and could be summarized as “if we work together, reply to our emails, deliver high-quality and you good fam”.

Then they told readers to submit full application incl. motivation letter, resume and other documents nobody ever enjoys reading.

I didn’t really want the gig (given the stiff tone) but wanted to see what reaction I could get by doing the opposite they expected. So I typed up a charming email, complete with unrelated pictures and whatnot.

Their reaction astounded me. Not only did they want to get me on board for a test assignment, my charming email even got me past their whole selection process without a single of the requested documents.

So yes, the Charm Offensive approach WORKS, even outside of the hip world of marketing agencies and software startups. Even where the opposite is expected.

JON BUCHAN  //  Founder, Charm Offensive

A good few years ago, I was desperate for sales after my word of mouth work dried up.

I got hellishly drunk one night and wrote a completely absurd cold email. I was still tipsy the next morning and decided it was still a good idea to send it to pretty senior Marketing Directors at big brands.

To my astonishment, it worked. I got the most amazing complimentary responses and requests for calls/meetings, from senior decision makers at RedBull, Pepsi, Symantec, Hewlett-Packard, HSBC, Barclays and countless other global brands. Symantec and Hewlett Packard became clients.

All because of a crazy cold pitch.

I decided to start teaching others my unorthodox approach to cold pitching. People listened to my weird advice and found that it worked for them, too.

That’s what Charm Offensive is all about: getting the attention of busy people.
